Quick and Easy Graduation Card

Hi, all! Tami Mayberry here today with a quick and easy graduation card that I made for one of my favorite high school graduates.

Sizzix Die Cutting Tutorial: Graduation 2013 Card by Tami Mayberry

Since this is a graduation, card I wanted the year to be the main focus. I also knew I wanted to use my Ornate Labels Framelits. I also used the school colors.

I decided to use my eclips and starter cartridge to die-cut the year 2013. One thing I really like about the eclips is the ability to change the size of the letters and images. I began with numbers that were about 1.25" tall. Once I placed them inside the die shape I realized I actually wanted them larger.

So, I changed the size to 2 inches and had just the size I wanted.

Next, I cut one of the Ornate Frames from gray cardstock. I wanted to add a small border to the design. Fortunately, the way the Framelits are designed it's really simple to add to the available sizes with just a pencil and pair of scissors. The die cuts on the inside so if I want a shape that is a bit larger than what comes in the set I simply trace around the outside and cut it out by hand.

This is what the die-cut shape looks like when layered with the hand-cut shape.

Once the label was layered together I added the numbers. I always make a mess with glue and look for ways to use dry adhesives on most of my projects. For the numbers I placed them face down on scrap paper and went over them with my EZ Dots from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™. By using the tiny dots when I peeled it off the excess was left on the scrap paper.

I placed all of this on a gray base and a panel that I embossed with the Ornate Frames Set 2 embossing folder. This folder is a perfect match for the Ornate Labels dies and added the perfect accent to clean and simple cards.

For the inside of the card I used the congratulations sentiment and shadow from the eclips starter cartridge.

Again, not working well with glue, I incorporated dry adhesive. Before I started I placed a piece of double sided adhesive paper, also from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™, face down on the back of the cardstock I would be cutting from. I placed the cardstock on the mat with the adhesive sheet between the cardstock and the mat. When I went to cut I made sure my blade was positioned over the area that had the adhesive sheet attached.

When I removed the sentiment the back still had the adhesive and backing on it. All I had to do was peel the backing off and it was ready to attach to the shadow die-cut.

Put it all together, add some gems, outline with a glitter pen and it's done!

Sizzix Die Cutting Tutorial: Thank You Pop 'n Cuts Card by Richele Christensen

Die cutting makes this card so fast and easy! This is the outside of the card...

...and here's the inside! Pop 'n Cuts is always sure to impress.

Die cut the outside of your card using the Pop 'n cuts A-2 base die and the inside of the card with the Pop 'n cuts 3-D Thanks inserted into the base die. Tip: Don't forget to line up the tic marks. The papers I used are from Pink Paisley's Hope Chest line, the colors are soft and beautiful, perfect for our card today.

Using the NEW Brenda Walton Summer Florals die, die cut two sets of florals. I have always loved Brenda's designs and I was so happy to meet her at CHA this past January. She and her husband are so sweet!

Color the flowers with Scattered Straw and Tumbled Glass Distress Stain. Dry with a Heat tool. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending tool. Adhere several layers to make the flowers for the card.

Add Distress Stain directly to your Craft Sheet, spray Crinkle Ribbon with water and dip the ribbon into the stain. Dry with a heat tool. As the ribbon dries scrunch it up.

Die cut two labels using the Movers and Shapers die in the Base Tray. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Cut the greenish label in half. Position and adhere the label to create a border on the top and bottom. Stamp the message "from the bottom of my heart", with Cobalt Archival ink.

Tie the ribbon around the card with a bow. Pop dot the flowers and message label. Adhere the buttons and the pearls.

Now for the inside. Die cut "THANKS" from the Karen Burniston Thanks die Sizzlit set. Ink with Tumbled Glass Distress Stain and dry with a heat tool.

Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink an an Ink Blending tool.

Adhere the letter to the inside die cut. Add the flowers, button and pearls.

I love how you can mix and match the different styles of dies and come up with such a beautiful project. It's so fun and easy with Sizzix dies!

Thanks for stopping in!

Richele

“18” Happy Birthday Pop `n Cut Card

Hey crafty friends! Gretchen here and I’ve got a new new Pop `n Cuts tutorial to share with you today featuring several Sizzix dies including the Banners #2 Framelits & Stamp Set as well as the Zig Zag Circles Framelits.

Sizzix Die Cutting Tutorial: Gretchen Schmidt "18" Pop 'n Cuts Card

In a few days my oldest son will be turning 18 so I made this card just for him. They get too big, too fast!

Create the base of your card out of cardstock. Add the Label PNC insert into the PNC base, line up the tick marks, lay your cardstock on top and cut. Fold according to package directions.

Cover the front and back of your card with patterned paper. My pieces is 4” x 8”. I scored it 3” in from the back. Outline the front section of patterned paper in black.

Use the Circles Framelits set, the Zig Zag Circles Framelits, and the numbers from the Word Play Alphabet to create your front sentiment.

Stamp ten different banners using the Banners #2 Framelits & Stamps set. Five will be for the front of your card and five will be for the inside.

Color your banners and cut them out using the Framelits that come with the Banners #2 set.

Assemble five of the banners and the sentiment on the front of your card and glue all the pieces down.

On the inside of your card, add the remaining five banners. Cut a larger Zig Zag Circle Framelits shape and glue it to the front of your Pop `n Cut piece.

Using the Birthday Thinlits set, create a gift and bow shape.

Outline the gift and bow in black. Assemble pieces and adhere to the front of your Zig Zag Circle.

Add a square of white cardstock to the bottom of your card that is approximately 4” x 3-1/2”. Add a strip of coordinating patterned paper to the top of the white cardstock that has been edged with the Mini Scallop & Pinking die. To finish of your card, stamp the “happy birthday” sentiment and banner using the Banners #2 Framelits & Stamp set. Color the sentiment and cut out using matching framelit.

Your “18” Happy Birthday card if officially done! Just substitute whatever number you need and you’re on your way to helping someone celebrate a very special birthday.
